Stair-climbers, often referred to as steppers, offer a wide range of motion, which makes for a a more effective and efficient cardiovascular workout. Those who are looking to purchase steppers of any sort should consider getting one of the Stairmaster products. Read on to learn more about Stairmaster and how it has become one of the leading brands in stair-climbing equipment.
Brief history
The history of Stairmaster began in 1983, when a man named Lanny Potts invented the StairMaster 5000. A company by the name of Tri-Tech, Inc. introduced the StairMaster 5000 during the trade show of the National Sporting Goods Association. One year later, the StairMaster 6000 was developed, which had a CRT monitor that displayed information about workout records. Tri-Tech worked out an agreement with Nautilus Northeast. Nautilus became the exclusive distributor of Stairmaster products. Tri-Tech would later operate under the name StairMaster Exercise Systems. In 2002, Nautilus, Inc. would acquire the company that was once Tri-Tech and, along with it, the rights to the Stairmaster products.
Stairmaster products
Throughout the years, Stairmaster has released a number of products that range from the traditional StairClimber design to the escalator-inspired StepMill design. Stairmaster equipment made with the StairClimber design basically features two steppers that can move independently of one another. Equipment with the StepMill design, on the other hand, works in a similar way to an escalator, with wide steps that rotate as the user climbs them. Stepmaster's products are proven to be very effective and efficient pieces of workout equipment that have become an industry standard for fitness facilities, gyms, and clubs around the world. In fact, USA Today named StairMaster as one of the top 25 innovations that have changed people's lives.
Two of the products being offered by Nautilus, Inc. include the StairMaster StepMill SM916 and the StairMaster StairClimber SC916. These two pieces of equipment feature state-of-the-art technology that helps exercisers, fitness buffs, and professional athletes stay in shape. While the Stepmaster products are primarily focused on offering cardiovascular training, they also help build strength in the legs with varying settings, including speed and resistance settings.
